On Friday, the 27th of October 2023, the first edition of the EuroPerfusion SimLab event will take place at the IRCAD facilities in Strasbourg.
All perfusionists will have the opportunity to register for simulation trainings given by an exceptional group of European trainers from various EBCP accredited perfusion schools. We have 4 rooms available and organize three sessions per room. In each room you will have the opportunity to train for both ECMO and CPB related scenarios and each room will be supplied with material from a different perfusion related company.
In the meet the teams section below, you will see that the training is exclusively given by the simulation educators and not by the company that provides the equipment.
We have 12 spots available per session, so places are limited.
If you want to join, don't hesitate to register.
Registration fee is 50€ per session and you can register for multiple sessions if you want.

ECMO in ECPR simulation experience
The simulation with Team Denmark will look at the emergency use of ECMO during ECPR. A short discussion about when you could expect to encounter ECPR followed by a scenario encompassing rapid priming and checking of the ECMO device, cannulation selection and sites, connecting the ECMO to a patient during ECPR, flow assessment, ECMO settings, potential complications and troubleshooting these, potential emergencies and accidents during ECPR.
For these simulations, you will use the ECMO equipment of Medtronic.

Did you know that the majority of adverse events in hospitals are linked to human factors (communication, leadership, situation awareness)?
With this in mind, the Belgian team created a series of scenarios that involve ECMO management skills as well as the development of communication and team management skills.
For these simulations, you will use the ECMO equipment of Eurosets.
Frank Merkle, Dr. Rer. Medic.
Morten Grünberg, ECCP, MSc
Benjamin Haupt, ECCP, MSc
German Heart Institute Berlin (DHZB)
Adrian Bauer, PhD, ECCP
Norman Koch, ECCP
MediClin Heartcenter Coswig
In this simulation you will be introduced to the basics of minimally invasive perfusion by experienced simulation trainers and MiECC perfusionists using various simulation scenarios. In addition, you will train the change to open perfusion by means of scenarios for a hybrid perfusion procedure.
For these simulations, you will use the CPB equipment of Liva Nova.
Alessandro Parasido, BSc, MSc, ECCP
Andrea Scalas, BSc
Chiara Viale, BSc

Enhanced safety during CPB
In this workshop the team will take you into an emergency scenario such as an unexpected aortic dissection.
With the right emergency techniques and communication skills in the team, you can change from a simple CPB procedure to a complicated one if necessary.
For these simulations, you will use the CPB equipment of Spectrum Medical.
|Thanks to the support of Medtronic, we are able to conduct this simulation day using the high-fidelity Califia simulators provided by them.
The European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion wishes to express its gratitude for their loyal support in our mission to raise education & scientific standards for perfusionists in Europe on an independent way. By organizing this event, we are able to connect European perfusionists with the best simulation trainers from the various EBCP accredited perfusion schools.
